The third International Conference on Management Research (ICMR-2012) was
organised by Superior University in collaboration with IESG, France and
ICRIM, Italy in Lahore on November 29-30, 2012. The conference theme was
“Emerging Markets - Role of Education, Media, Governance, Social and Industrial
Development”. The conference was attended by renowned researchers from Australia,
France, Sweden, the UAE, India, Kazakhstan, the USA, the UK and different parts
of Pakistan. One of the distinguishing features of the conference was the Italian
and French trade forums which were attended by Italian Ambassador and diplomats,
French Diplomats and many overseas Pakistani businessmen. This was the third consecutive
conference to achieve the vision of facilitating superior human beings and
promoting research culture in higher education institutes in Pakistan. In welcome address,
Dr. Sikander Khan, Pro Rector Superior University, said, “Pakistani exporters are primarily
exporting raw materials which have low profitability and they confront tough competition from
global players. He suggests that research supports the fact that export of value added product
can increase the exports and foreign exchange for the country.”
The Chairman, Superior Group of Colleges and Rector, Superior University, Chaudhry Abdul Rehman in his speech thanked H.E. Adriano Chiodi, Ambassador of Italy to Pakistan and Dr. Bessat and Mr. Marc Mercia from French Embassy for gracing the occasion and extending their support in organising the research conference. He also emphasised the role of researchers in solving today’s problems faced by academicians and industrialists. He added, “Superior University proudly provides a platform where researchers across the globe share their experiences with young and seasoned researchers of Pakistan. Our academic and research efforts will enhance the opportunities for the provision of quality education. Besides, research will help those people who want to solve their industrial problems. Education is like oxygen for bringing positive changes in the lives of people. In fact, the real purpose of this conference is to enrich research culture, take benefits from the experiences of international researchers and scholars and strengthen our relationship with this community for the uplift and development of Pakistan. In a nutshell, he underlined the importance of research by saying that this conference can lead towards a strong, stable and independent Pakistan.”
Prof. Dr. Malloch Hedley, IESEG, France, shared his research experiences and emphasised the role of international trade and sharing of research in the progress of both countries. He highlighted the role of education for the youth in Pakistan and appreciated the hospitality of Pakistani people.
Mr. Marc Mercia, Counselor French Embassy, talked about France-Pakistan bilateral economic relations. He shared the French exports sectors and volume. He also told the audience about French investment in Pakistan in different sectors and showed willingness of French government for future investments in Pakistan.
Mr. Irfan Sheikh, Senior Vice President LCCI, congratulated Superior University on organising a successful international event. He urged Italian and French government to provide support in the technology sector of Pakistan.
A panel discussion was held on the role of governance in education in emerging markets.
H.E. Adriano Chiodi, Ambassador of Italy in Pakistan, graced the occasion as a chief guest. In his speech, he expressed his views by saying, “Education, media, governance and social and industrial development play a significance role in the development of a nation. Modern education provides access to emerging markets and he is impressed that Pakistan, a developing country, where private universities apart from typical education, provide an opportunity to its students to learn from international scholars and researchers.” He was happy to see that Superior University left an impression by gathering scholars, researchers, businessmen and students in a single platform. He emphasised on the importance of education by sharing his ideas, “One can confront the modern issues just because of education as it is a solution of all problems. Besides, the government, in this modern era, can make and amend their policies according to the latest trends and for the development of a nation, it is the need of the hour to educate the masses.”
Three parallel workshops were also conducted by seasoned trainers. The details are as follows:

3. Research Tools and Techniques to Earn the Graduate Degree by Dr. Bahaudin G. Mujtaba, Associate Professor of Management, Nova Southeastern University, President of ILEAD Academy, LLC, Author of “Coaching and Performance Management” (2008)
Training sessions were attended by students and faculty from different universities and participants appreciated the content and trainers.
140 papers on role of governance, education, human resource management, media, technology and social and industrial developments in emerging markets were presented by national and international presenters. Two best papers awards were given to the presenters. The conference was concluded with certificate awarding ceremony.
