SUPERIOR UNIVERSITY AND ITS GOVERNANCE SYSTEM

Governance is the process of consultation, communication, and decision-making that devises institutional policies. These policies serve as general guidelines that inform decision-making and the development of procedures throughout the University. The core function of the governors is to develop and implement these policies, which comprise the systems and procedures under which the University is directed and controlled. The basic model is as follows:

GOVERNING BODIES

The Office of the Rector and the Registrar plays a pivotal role in managing governance matters. The Registrar’s office facilitates the functioning of governing bodies and the implementation of decisions.

Superior University Lahore is a degree-awarding institution duly chartered by the Government of Punjab under Act No. XVI of 2004. It has earned a distinguished reputation in the field of higher education and is regarded as one of Pakistan’s premier private sector universities. It offers a wide range of disciplines, from Medicine and Engineering to Creative Arts and Social Sciences, with the following powers:

Providing instruction and training in various faculties and branches of learning, as determined by the Board of Governors.

  • Conducting research, demonstrations, and other services to advance knowledge and promote its dissemination.
  • Holding examinations and conferring degrees, diplomas, certificates, and other academic distinctions.
  • Selecting and promoting faculty members.
  • Prescribing courses of study.
  • Establishing and supporting facilities for education, training, and research.
  • Deciding teaching methods and strategies, including virtual, on-campus, online, and distance learning, to ensure effective educational and training programs.

    These functions empower the university to provide high quality education, promote research, and facilitate academic growth locally and globally.

  • Superior University’s undergraduate, graduate, and research programs are recognised by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC). The university also boasts fully accredited programs in Architecture, IT, Law, Nursing, Engineering, Pharmacy, Medical, Dental, and Business from various regulatory bodies, including the Pakistan Council of Architects & Town Planners (PCATP), National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC), Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC), Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), Pharmacy Council of Pakistan (PCP), Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC), and National Technology Council (NTC).


The University operates through various authorities entrusted with the responsibility of running and regulating its affairs. These authorities include:

The Board of Governors, as provided in the Superior University Act of 2004, consists of:

  1. Chairman of the Company
  2. Members of the Board of Directors of the Company (up to four members)
  3. Chairman of the Higher Education Commission or nominee not below the rank of Director
  4. Vice-Chancellor of a public sector University in Punjab nominated by the Patron
  5. Rector
  6. Secretary to the Government of Punjab, Education Department, or nominee not below the rank of Additional Secretary
