The Superior University has now become a member of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), says a press release issued by the higher education institution here on Saturday.
UNAI is an initiative that aligns institutions of higher education with the United Nations in supporting and contributing to the realisation of United Nations goals and mandates, including promotion and protection of human rights, access to education, sustainability and conflict resolution.
Since 2010, UNAI has created a vibrant and diverse network of students, academics, scientists, researchers, think-tanks, institutions of higher education, continuing education and educational associations. There are over 1400 member institutions in more than 147 countries that reach over 25 million people in education and research sectors around the world, representing a global diversity of regions and a thematic wealth of disciplines.
The press release says the Superior University is recognised as a leading entrepreneurial university on the global forum and this is all because of the untiring efforts of Superior University Rector Dr Sumaira Rehman.
“It was our vision and mission all along to become an entrepreneurial university and equipaging the passion and innovation of our young people and help them make Pakistan economically and socially superior. The efforts of Social Entrepreneurship Program (SEP), a unit of CMACED, and SEP Assistant Director Mr Usman Sadiq are behind this membership and accomplishment and a wish to keep achieving such milestones in life through hard work,” the press release says.
The press release says that UNAI welcomes Superior College as a member and values its commitment to the following 10 principles: Commitment to the United Nations Charter, Human Rights, educational opportunity for all, sustainability, capacity-building in higher education systems, global citizenship, peace and conflict resolution, addressing poverty, higher education opportunities for every interested individual and “unlearning” of intolerance.
“The work of our institution is vital to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals as we serve as incubator of new ideas and solutions to many global challenges we face. UNAI provides the integral link to these stakeholders to ensure that the international community harnesses the energy and innovation of young people and the research community in service to humanity,” the press release concludes.
